Event Info

SBMUN VIII will be held on April 6, 2024.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time at southbaymun@gmail.com.

Fundraising

SBMUN is excited to be partnering with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley this year, a food bank that provides equal access to food for all Bay Area residents, as part of our collective interest to promote and advocate for the societal issues that we face currently. Apart from having a representative visit, SBMUN is going to be fundraising for Second Harvest's cause, raising money for such an impactful cause. If you would like to donate and contribute towards a notable cause, then you can visit SBMUN's food drive page here.

Position Papers

Position papers are to be emailed as a PDF to your committee’s email by March 31 for research awards, or by April 5 for any committee award.

You will not be eligible for any award if you do not submit a position paper.

In order to show your research into your topics, we request that each delegate submit a 2–5 page, typed, and double-spaced position paper, to be emailed as a PDF to your committee's email. Google Drive links will not be accepted. In this research paper, we request that you write three sections: one on an overview of your topic, one on your country or individual’s policies as extrapolated from the sources you evaluate, and one on the solution(s) you propose in your topic. We would also like for you to cite your sources in this paper to show that you have performed research.

For the crisis committees, you will be expected to put forward a plan for the success of the organization in your solutions section.

The heading should look like this (please do not include your name OR your school name in the heading!):

Country Name
Committee Name
SBMUN VIII

If you have any specific questions about position papers, email your dais! Each dais’ email can be found on their respective committee webpage.
